Cool Catholic Things...
Even with the wonderful blessing of Roe v. Wade being overturned, which allows more freedom at the state level to enact pro-life laws, the necessary work to build a culture of life in the United States of America is not finished. Rather, it is focused differently. Sadly, the number of abortions annually is still well over 900,000 each year, and that number is expected to decrease only by roughly 200,000 each year in a post-Roe America. Many national legislative battles loom, including even keeping longstanding Hyde protections, which limit government funding for abortion on annual appropriation bills. The Hyde Amendment has saved over 2 million lives and is arguably the most impactful pro-life policy in our nation’s history, but now cannot be taken for granted.
While the official day of prayer has passed, and the March for Life in Washington D.C. was last weekend, it is always a good time to pray for life! AND the Nebraska March for Life in Lincoln is this Saturday - learn more: https://www.lincolnrighttolife.org/walkforlife

1st Communion Dress Code Details - some of you may be planning ahead, here are the details:
Boys - Dress pants, dress shirt, dress shoes. Suit and/or tie is optional, but preferred.
Girls - White dress, shoes, tights. No gloves during ceremony, please. Veils optional.

* 8th Grade Confirmation Retreat - we are working on plans for our alternative retreat now. It will be during an extended class on
Wednesday Feb 4. It will begin early - at 4:15 and end at 6:45 here at MOQ.
Thank you for understanding as we navigate a new plan over the past few days. Our retreat team had to cancel at the last minute due to the severe weather south of us. We are excited to still provide a meaningful experience for the students. Special thank you to Ms. Katie Geist for using her expertise and network to put together a great schedule along with some wonderful faith-filled young adults to help run the small groups and lead worship. Also thank you the the SJV Martha and Mary group for providing sweet treats for the kids.

Dress Code for Confirmation Details - some of you may be planning ahead, here are the details:
Boys - Dress pants w/ a belt, dress shirt tucked in, dress shoes w/ dark socks. Suit and/or tie is optional, but encouraged.
Girls - Dresses must be modest, appropriate for this sacrament. I know this can be tough to find, but please make sure: shoulders, backs, stomachs are covered, nothing too short (should be at the knee or longer) or too low cut across the chest (no cleavage showing).
